Theta Charity Antiques Show in Houston, Texas – Featuring Four Permanent Beneficiaries
Theta Charity Antiques Show is internationally renowned for their original and innovative thinking. For over seven decades, this internationally acclaimed antique fair has showcased the beauty, value, creativity, and originality of fine antiques, jewelries, furniture and decor. This year, the 67th annual Theta Charity Antiques Show commemorates their nearly five century history, with a spectacular Grand Finale Show presenting fine art, rare furniture, jewelry, and decorative dcor spanning a wide spectrum of historical style and eras. Here you will find original and vintage pieces from the past, as well as contemporary and luxury collections.
There are several major highlights from this three-day event: A Grand Finale Extravaganza, where designers from throughout the industry gather to celebrate and share the best art and vision they have created; Thematic Sessions, a week of workshops led by award-winning Houston Design Museum curators; Thematic showcases, which engage local children and youth artists; and Dealer Tables, where top industry talent gets the opportunity to make a personal connection and gain vital business information that can help them succeed. The festival is jam-packed with exciting events, including celebrity spotting, live entertainment, networking opportunities with industry reps, and signature exhibits at the trade shows. On Day One, featured designers include: Bahia Solano & Associates, Craig Davidson Designs, Daniel Libeskind, Deneck, El Kay, Jeanette and many more. Special activities include seminars focused on design trends and personal style, hands-on design demonstrations, fashion and jewelry workshops, and much more. The event also boasts numerous free attractions, including the Museum of Ephemerata Houston, Wax Museum, and the Houston Museum of Natural History.
Theta Charity Antiques Show benefits several Houston area charities. This year’s featured charities are: The Arts Council of Greater Houston, The Chase Bank Foundation, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In keeping with the theme of the day, each presenter will be given an “antique” to hold as they speak about their organization’s mission and vision. At the end of the day, guests can go inside the museum for a special free exhibit, featuring works of art from area artists, a portrait garden, and a children’s corner with educational activities. Other attractions include: a Houston premiere of a film based on the works of Frank Lloyd Wright, musical and cultural performances by Area musicians, nature programs like an environmental garden, and free meals provided by local restaurants. There are also charitable partners this year like the Salvation Army, Greater Houston Foodbank, and several national retailers.
Theta Charity Antiques Show has been benefiting the community in several ways. On the day of the event, attendees can register to receive two free tickets to the main expo. Then they can visit the exhibitor’s booth, where they can mingle with other collectors and dealers, learn about rare finds, pay hands-on trades, and meet local businesses that donate money to support the community. At the end of the day, guests can enjoy a free picnic lunch at an outdoor tables set up by the exhibition hall, while listening to live music and enjoying the beauty of the Houston outdoors. There will also be food and drinks available for purchase from local restaurants.
This year’s featured exhibitors are: The Art Institutes of Houston, Gulf Coast Antique Mounds, The Artistic College of Texas, The Society of Retired Executives, and The Dallas Institute of Art. This year’s theme is “Art and the Arcades,” which inspires exhibitors to use their knowledge and expertise to help other artists and aspiring artists obtain financial support and artistic careers. Each of the four permanent beneficiaries of Theta Charity Antiques Show will have their own booth exhibit and benefit from complimentary admission to the expo; they will also receive a certificate for a limited number of autographed art prints.
There are two ways to purchase tickets to this fascinating exhibition: either online or at the George R. Brown Convention Center & Gardens in downtown Houston.
